Upholstered furniture is all around us, helping to create beautiful spaces and shaping the ambience and atmosphere of a room. With a huge array of fabrics available, upholstered furniture can exude understated elegance or provide a dramatic focal point.

The upholstery process is entirely bespoke. No two pieces of furniture are the same, and every project requires time, care and meticulous attention to detail. It’s this combination of creativity, problem-solving and traditional craftsmanship that drew me to upholstery and is reflected in my work.

Following a career in music publishing, I retrained in upholstery, completing my diploma with the Association of Master Upholsterers and Soft Furnishers at the East London Furniture Institute (ELFI, formerly part of London Metropolitan University). This three-year course is the UK’s only fully verified, industry-recognised qualification in upholstery. Taught by some of the country’s most respected upholsterers, the course has a reputation for instilling high standards and teaching the skills and techniques to be able to work on furniture of any age or style.
